Pierre Leclercq will be a part of Kia as Head of Styling, a newly created position targeted on long-term design technique and innovation.
The Belgian-born designer most not too long ago served because the design head for Great Wall Motors. From 2011-2013, he was the Model Design Chief for BMW’s M division, capping off a 13-year profession on the German firm. Previous to BMW, he labored at Ford’s Ghia studio and for Zagato.
Leclercq takes on his new position on the finish of September. He’ll work alongside Peter Schreyer, president and chief design officer of Hyundai Motor Group, and Seon Ho Youn, head of Kia Design Heart in Korea.
“Pierre Leclercq has a novel perception into international car design, and brings with him the required expertise and experience to assist reinforce Kia’s design identification within the coming years,” Schreyer mentioned in an announcement.
“Design has performed a key position within the transformation of the Kia model, and Pierre will assist to make sure our design-led method stays constant throughout new mannequin launches in new segments.”
In his new position, Leclercq will lead design innovation for car exteriors, interiors, supplies, and textiles. He’ll assist solidify a constant design language throughout the Kia model and can be chargeable for strengthening cooperation between Kia’s design efforts within the U.S., Europe, China, and Korea.
